Panel converter VC Industries Ltd (VCi) has invested more than £300,000 in equipment at its Leeds factory.
The three-year-old company, which aims to record about £4m sales this year, has installed an IMA edgebander, a cyclone filter dust extraction system from Disa and ancilliary equipment.
The edgebander was sourced from former board distributor BCL‘s factory in Leeds. The site had been taken over by International Decorative Surfaces in 2003, which later decided to sell the equipment.
VCi’s new cyclone filter has enabled the company to separate PVC waste from wood dust, as well as grow overall extraction capacity.
A hogger and silo will be installed in the coming weeks, which will allow VCi to more efficiently store and then dispatch its woodwaste, which is recycled.
Next year the company intends to burn woodwaste to provide space heating for the factory.
