A Derbyshire joinery firm has been fined £10,000 after a worker partially severed two fingers in an overhead routing machine.
Wilfield Shopfitting Interiors and Exhibitions of Long Eaton admitted breaches of the Health and Safety Act during an appearance before Derby Crown Court.
Employee Ronald Kirk told the court he had become distracted when company director Philip Boyfield’s six-year-old son had begun to run loose on the factory floor.
In mitigation it was said that health and safety had been upgraded and that Mr Boyfield had left the firm.
