The giant red oak “Timber Wave” is now in place outside the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

The 3D latticework spiral, made by Cowley Timberwork and engineered by Arup, frames the full height of the museum entrance forming a 12m-high “walk through” experience for visitors.

The wave, commissioned by The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), will be up during the London Design Festival for the next four weeks.

AHEC European director David Venables hopes interest and demand for red oak, which makes up around a third of all US hardwood trees, will reach a turning point due to the high-profile wave installation.
