Belgian international hardwood and softwood trader Vandecasteele was very pleased with the show and is already planning a return in 2012.

“It’s good because it’s all about timber; we’re not part of a bigger show where others get in the way,” said export manager Geneviéve Standaert.

The company received enquiries from existing customers, suppliers and new sales prospects.

“We don’t need thousands of people, we just need quality visitors, which we’ve had,” said Ms Standaert

“We were also among the pioneering exhibitors at the first Carrefour International du Bois exhibition in France, and this first Timber Expo has a similar atmosphere,” said general manager Stefaan Vandecasteele. “And over the years Carrefour has become a lot bigger and developed an international reputation.”

Vandecasteele showcased its range of tropical and temperate species, which now includes US hardwoods in prime and super prime grades.
