Howden Joinery’s third-quarter sales rose 6.2% on a year ago, the company has reported in its interim management statement.
The group, which now has 500 depots, said the performance was better than growth in the first half of 2011, reflecting the benefit of a price increase at the start of the third quarter.
For the 10 months ended October 29, Howden’s sales were up 5.6% or 3.2% on a same depot basis.
Howden said trading conditions continued to be demanding since the end of the first half but it was encouraged by the company’s strength of performance.
The group is on course to open 20 new depots in 2011.
“We continue to invest in our product offering and marketing, having recently rolled out two new kitchen ranges, introduced a two-year guarantee on all our Lamona appliances and doubled the size of our fleet of hardware and flooring sales vans to more than 110,” it said.
Howden said it remained “cautious” about the outlook for 2012.
