Norwegian modified wood producer Kebony has unveiled its latest project, Oslo’s new Onda restaurant.

Project architects Alliance and MAPT chose Kebony’s alternative to tropical hardwood and treated wood for the exterior cladding.

Onda, Spanish for ‘wave’, is clad in an undulating wave of Kebony southern yellow pine, which complements its marine setting and is designed to evolve over time to acquire a subtle silver-grey patina.

Built on the traditional Tingvalla pier, Onda is a structure formed of four small conical shapes, all of which have a different slope and angle to form an organic-looking exterior wave.

Kebony said architects, contractors and developers in Norway, the UK and internationally were increasingly turning to high quality, durable and environmentally-friendly products such as Kebony.
