Power tools manufacturer Stanley has issued a series of simple safety steps for users of its power tools.

The company says some people using its Bostitch trip contact tools walk around with their finger on the trigger while some “speed merchants” even tape the trigger down. Others have been reported trying to use oxygen or combustible gases to power their air tools.

Stanley’s safety ‘rules’ are: always wear eye protection; do not carry air tools with the trigger pulled and never tape the trigger down; don’t drive fasteners towards yourself or anybody else; always disconnect the air supply when the tool is not in use; only use regulated compressed air; and always read the operators manual.
