Travis Perkins has acquired the outstanding 70% of shares it did not own in Toolstation Ltd, the retail outlet and online tool and lightside building products business.
The company paid £24m for the remaining stake.
Toolstation has 103 outlets and its product range includes timber doors, firedoors and flooring. Its profits before tax and other deductions were £5m in the year to December 2011.
Travis Perkins’ chief executive Geoff Cooper said the takeover formed part of its strategy to expand its consumer division, which includes Wickes and Tile Giant.
“Toolstation offers great value and better reliability to customers who want to order or get materials in the way that suits them best; online, via its call centre or through the trade counters,” he said. “It’s a great addition to our consumer division.”
