Earnshaws Fencing Centre’s focus on the whole outdoor living package and a redesign of one of its branches boosted sales last year by 22%, says the Wakefield-based company.
Earnshaws has sites in Brigg and Rotherham, as well as Midgeley near Wakefield, and its product range is now focused on fencing, ‘natural’ landscaping products, garden furniture, timber garden buildings and outdoor heating.
“Our results reflect our efforts to fine-tune our range,” said retail operations manager at the private company Neil Hargill. “It’s clearly a proposition gardeners are responding to – people are travelling some distance to shop with us.”
While the business as a whole increased sales by more than a fifth, Earnshaw’s remodelled Wentworth centre achieved a 32% rise.
This year the company plans to develop its Wakefield site.
