Croydon-based Lignum International Hardwoods Ltd celebrated its 25th anniversary on June 13.

Joint managing directors Kevin Ashby and John Bottle say that after two and a half decades of radical change in the timber trade it is good to know that something has stayed the same.

Mr Ashby said: “When Lignum started as an independent hardwood del credere agent in 1977 it was dealing only in wawa lumber, lauan lumber and manufactured maple flooring.

“Today we specialise in solid and engineered flooring, joinery mouldings, furniture components, doors, dimension stock and rough sawn lumber from western and eastern Europe, west Africa, the Far East, and south and north America. Species include all primary hardwood timbers plus selected secondary species and teak, both indigenous and plantation.”
