A leading architect with a track record in using timber in construction will be keynote speaker at the British Woodworking Federation‘s annual members’ day.

The event takes place at Holywell Park, Loughborough University on May 24 and will also include workshops covering a range of topics.

The keynote speaker has yet to be announced, but will be from a leading architectural practice and address the topic of the future of wood in the built environment.

“Understanding how the architect or specifier thinks and will be asking for in the future is crucial to targeting your product,” said a BWF spokesperson. “The speaker will provide insight in to their aspirations for wood.”

The workshop topics will include the opportunities presented by the government’s Green Deal initiative, sustainable timber sourcing, the EU Construction Products Regulation and CE marking, joinery sales and marketing and alternative sources of finance.

The cost of the event wil be £90 for members and £120 for non-members, both plus VAT.

A BWF networking dinner will take place the evening before at the nearby Burleigh Court Hotel.
