Egger has set up its own forestry company in Germany to improve security of wood supply.

The move follows increasing demand for wood among traditional wood-consuming sectors and competition from the biomass industry.

The new forestry company is operational from May 1, with primary goal to increase the security of supply at Egger’s three German plants, as well as procuring wood at the French and Austrian factories.

Egger Forst GmbH will work with state and local forestry companies and forestry associations. Egger plans to offer these partners integration on the CoSeDat portal, a system which offers real-time electronic flow of information and reduces administrative costs of procurement.

Egger already has its own forestry companies operating in the UK and Austria.
