Glulam Solutions demonstrated its dedication to sustainability with the HYBRiD house which would later be reused as its office in Aberdeen.
The company, originally called Core Structures until it rebranded in November, designs, supplies and installs glulam and cross-laminated timber structures, largely for commercial buildings, churches and swimming pools.
“We are the only company in Scotland doing glulam,” said director Hamish Morrison, adding that the company covered the UK “from Shetland, south”.
The HYBRiD structure the company erected at Ecobuild is a complete build solution developed through partnerships with other manufacturers – Val-U-Therm wall, floor and roof panels from Scotframe, which have a U-value of 0.022W/m²K; aluminium-clad timber windows from NorDan; and connectors from Simpson Strong-Tie.
The building on display was clad in British larch.
“We can offer a U-value of 0.09W/m²K but it depends on what people want. We can meet their requirements,” said Mr Morrison.
Glulam Solutions has found its niche in the commercial sector and its structures are particularly popular for churches.
