included blown woodfibre insulation, a hinged engineered roof system and multi-purpose loft panels.
Steico UK managing director Andy Moore also said the company was looking to launch a retail off-the-shelf I-beam product for merchants later this year.
A series of captivating displays included loose woodfibre insulation being blown into a timber panel and glass case, showing water being continually sprayed onto a woodfibre panel to demonstrate the material’s hardiness.
The hinged roof system, using Steicojoists and designed to rest on a purlin, improve the logistics of transporting roof systems to site, as well as build time.
Steico’s new woodfibre insulation panel product – Steicotop – is specifically designed to solve the conundrum of achieving better loft insulation while at the same time providing loft storage space.
The diffusion “open” panels, which are laid over chipboard loft panels, have a dense surface to withstand light footfall and storage while providing insulation. B&Q and Wickes are reportedly interested in the products.
Mr Moore said several timber companies would be announced as suppliers of the product soon, following the announcement of MGM Timber (Scotland) Ltd as a supplier throughout Scotland.
He would like to see more builders merchants stocking the product, rather than sourcing on demand. “When people see it at the National Self Build Centre in Swindon they like it,” he said.
