NorDan NTech 1.2 range has become the first timber or alu-clad timber sliding patio door to achieve ACPO-approved Secured by Design status.
NorDan technical manager John McMenamy said: “Many manufacturers typically do not test their doors beyond 50mph windspeed for water-tightness; ours achieved water-tightness at 100mph windspeed. Air leakage on our sliding doors would be suitable for Passivhaus standard buildings.”
Jon Cole, national operations manager for ACPO Secured by Design, said: “I am delighted that one of the UK’s leading Scandinavian window manufacturers has developed a timber sliding door which meets the requirements of our Secured by Design initiative.”
All NorDan products are testing on rigs in Norway to Norwegian Building Standards which exceed demands made on products in the UK. The SBD sliding door has a whole product U-value of 1.2 W/m2K.
