Representatives from key tropical timber producing nations are gathering later this month for a symposium held by the International Tropical Timber Organisation.
The October 28 event in Yokohama, Japan, is being organised to mark the 25th anniversary of the International Tropical Timber Organisation, as well as the UN International Year of Forests.
Presentations will be made by Malaysian, Indonesian, Brazilian and African representatives, while the keynote speech will be by Welsh author and environmentalist Clive Nicol.
In his closing speech, ITTO executive director Emmanuel Ze Maka will talk on “Words on the future – functions and benefits of forests.
