In 2011 the TTBS distributed over £103,000 in quarterly payments, allowances towards telephone rentals, TV licences, spring and Christmas payments, Christmas hampers, winter fuel grants, one-off special grants, contributions towards equipment for the disabled and help with property repairs and funeral costs.
In addition to the support we give to our many beneficiaries around the UK, the nine TTBS Regional Committees are hugely involved in the timber trade’s social calendar. They organise golf events, clay pigeon shoots, Christmas lunches, dinners, masquerade balls, river boat trips and other events that are supported by timber companies and associated suppliers, trade
organisations and many loyal individuals.
On July 6 the TTBS National golf event will be taking place at the Marriott Forest of Arden inWarwickshire, with main sponsor, James Latham plc and subsponsors, Lonza, Norbord, Combilift, Volvo, Stakapal, Port of Tilbury, Howdens, Marsh Insurance Brokers, Abrahams Dresden Solicitors, Smith &Williamson Investment Management, Florian and Euler Hermes.
Historically this annual event has been a major fund-raiser for the TTBS and, once again in 2012, the initial support was overwhelming and the available places were filled in January.
In 2013, the National golf will be held at the Northumberland Golf Club, Newcastle and sponsored by MH Southern & Co Ltd in its centenary year.
