Recent fencing market concerns over premature post failures formed part of the background for Lonza developing Tanalith E 8000, which has been in development for several years.

It is targeted for use on home-grown species used in the UK and Ireland and will eventually replace previous formulations.

Lonza said the new product has Tanalith E at its core, combined with new BARamine technology, a patent-pending process that provides improved performance against standard fungi and mould, a broader spectrum of activity against decay organisms and better penetration and distribution into the timber.

"BARamine technology is a culmination of several years of research and development, and something we have been working on in the background and testing," said marketing services manager David Law.

"We have listened to market concerns and we want to give them a new, more powerful option," said.

Converting treatment facilities to the new product is a simple process and is well under way, the company said.

Tanalith E 8000 is being launched this summer and will be a key part of the Lonza’s presence at Timber Expo in September.

"The campaign focuses on genuine Tanalised timber and promotes the benefits of timber treated by our customers to a wider audience," said sales director Dr Tony Kelly.
