LoCal Homes has signed a three-year agreement for Travis Perkins to manage its supply chain. LoCal Homes is owned by the Accord Group in the West Midlands, which became the first housing association to manufacture its own buildings.

In addition to handling the supply chain, the deal will provide expertise and product knowledge to increase productivity and help develop the LoCal business, a statement said.

James Clark, sales director of Travis Perkins Managed Services, said: "The objective of Travis Perkins Offsite is to promote and expand our Managed Services and the group’s product offering to the public sector. We are excited to confirm this as the first contract for the offsite team."

The unit was established in January to target volumetric modular building manufacturers, such as timber frame and kitchen pods.
LoCal also shipped its first homes in January from a £1m factory in Walsall having previously imported wall panels, floor cassettes and internal partitions from Norway to construct buildings under licence. It expects to produce around 200 homes of its own a year.

Factory manager Jason Powell said: "We are delighted to be working with Travis Perkins and we hope the partnership will assist us to continually improve the product."
