The premises were reported to have been closed down for some time, but stocks and vehicles remained at the yard.
A local trader said that it was suspected an arsonist had targeted cars kept on the site. “We understand that three cars were set on fire,” he said.
“There were a lot of fire fighters and several appliances, and they stayed on site a long time, but we don’t think the flames caught timber stock which is kept at the back of the yard. We didn’t see great billows of smoke.”
