This terminal marks a period of significant expansion for the Finnish timber company, with the aim of improving availability for sawn joinery customers in all areas of the UK.

The opening of this hub follows sustained year-on-year growth over the last five years for Metsä Wood UK. The terminal will be home to comprehensive sawn joinery stock levels, with more shipments planned to ensure long-term consistency and reliability for joinery sales.

The hub at Ipswich will replicate the service and operations at Metsä Wood’s established terminal in Seaham, which will continue to serve existing and new customers.

Currently, the majority of the company’s joinery sales are delivered or collected direct from the port at Seaham, but operating from two hubs will see a significant increase in availability.

From November onwards, both stock locations will be capable of nationwide delivery. Both joinery terminals are also available to support increasing direct joinery sales to the UK and Ireland from Metsä Fibre sawmills in Finland and Russia.
