The development was described by Kronospan as an important milestone in its history and "reflects the company’s strong commitment to fulfilling the needs of its customers." The product joins the Kronobuild portfolio of panel products.
The plant is producing four different grades of softwood plywood that differ in their application, quality and colour of their decorative surface. It is available in 9-40mm thicknesses in six different boards’ dimensions.
Applications include furniture and wall panelling to demanding exterior constructions and formwork.
The plants annual planned production is 180,000m3 and the main export markets are Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, as well as expanding internationally to all countries where Kronospan is operating.
Kronospan says it believes the product will respond to the globally growing demand for plywood for decorative and structural uses.
In 2017-2018 Kronospan invested around US$211m in its Belarus operations.
Kronospan built five manufacturing lines at Mogilev and Smorgon in 2012-2016 to make particleboards, laminated particleboards, medium-density fiberboards (MDF), impregnated paper and flooring products.
